From an early age, Joe studied percussion, performing in pit orchestras, symphonic orchestras, jazz groups, and percussion ensembles on both orchestral instruments and drum set. These experiences combined with Joe’s interest in video game music and progressive metal bands like The Mars Volta and Porcupine Tree gave him the creative background to begin writing his own music in high school. This interest led Joe to Duquesne University, where he studied composition, sound design, audio engineering, and music theory. Joe now spends his time creating music under the alias Penghost, while also publishing video deep dives on topics including music theory and sound design.
